Home permanent hair removal methods – laser alternatives
a) Waxing Depilation
Waxing depilation is one of the most effective methods of removing hair. Many other methods of depilation are less effective than waxing depilation, as they remove hair only from the skin surface, leaving a hair bulb untouched. Hot wax reaches deeply, so it is able to remove a hair with its root. Removing hair together with bulbs causes that regrowth lasts long and hair becomes sparser and thinner.
Apart from numerous advantages, such a depilation has also following drawbacks:
- the procedure is painful and may damage skin, especially in the case of sensitive skin,
- in order to remove hair with wax, it must be at least 1 cm long,
- the procedure is time consuming,
b) Shaving
Shaving still seems to be the most popular way of removing hair, but there are a few disadvantages related to it. These are, above all, sores, irritated and chafed skin as well as the possibility of ingrowing hair. However, when we want to remove hair quickly and for a short time, shaving seems to be the best method.
c) Depilation creams
Depilation cream works on the basis of dissolving hair and its bulbs, what allows hair removing, and also limits hair growing for some time. Depilation creams are simple in use, and using them brings about desired effects without the need of spending much money. However, depilation creams contain compounds which have bad influence on allergy sufferers.
